This guitar was custom made in late 1983 for SRV by his close friend Charley Wirz of Charley's Guitar Shop in Dallas, TX. It featured a strat style body with an Ebony fretboard. It was also fitted with Danelectro Lipstick Pickups with only one volume and tone knob. Rene Martinez, Stevie's guitar tech, had previous experience in auto body painting and decided to finish the guitar with a pearl white auto body paint. He then added the finishing touch of a Hawaiin style pin-up on the back of the guitar. This guitar surely added some flash to Stevie's already eccentric style!
